North Platte, Neb. – Reece Yahn set a new school record with 15 offensive rebounds as North Platte powered its way back into the win column with a 121-65 win over Midland University JV on Monday night.
"This was a great team win tonight," said head coach Jeff Thurman. "Proud of our unselfishness on the offensive end."
The Knights came out firing, with a dominant 17–1 run before Midland finally broke through at the 5:34 mark. North Platte continued to control the pace, laying in 17 of the next 30 points to close the first quarter with a commanding 34-16 lead.
Dezirae Gonzales set the tone early in the second, knocking down a shot in the paint to ignite a 12-2 surge. The Knights defense held the Warriors to just 12 points for the rest of the quarter while adding 17 of their own to take a 33-point advantage into halftime.
North Platte's momentum never wavered. Yahn's short-range bucket pushed the Knights to the 70-point mark, and they wrapped up the third quarter just three points shy of triple digits.
Jasmine Gilbert opened the fourth with a deep three, pushing North Platte into triple digits. The Knights outscored Midland in every quarter and maintained complete control from start to finish, sealing the night with a dominant 56-point victory.
"Now we have two big games this weekend in Wyoming," Thurman said.
Knights (2-6) return to action on Friday against Laramie County. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m. at Ken Garff Court in Cheyenne, Wyo.
