Scottsbluff, Neb. – The North Platte Community College softball team dropped a doubleheader against Western Nebraska Community College on Sunday to close out the season.
Western Nebraska 11 North Platte 2
Western Nebraska struck early, plating four runs in the first and adding another in the second to build its lead.
North Platte answered with two runs in the second, from a single and an RBI flyout.
The Cougars broke the game open in the fifth, erupting for six runs on eight hits to secure the win.
Julia Leicht started in the circle for the Knights, pitching 4.1 innings. She allowed 11 runs on 15 hits, with one strikeout and two walks.

North Platte struck first with a run in the opening inning.
Western Nebraska evened the score at 1-1 in the second, the Knights responded with a run on a Cougars error and added three in the seventh.
The Cougars rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs to surge ahead and secure the win.
Kinsley Lawrence started for the Knights, pitching 6.2 innings. She allowed six runs on nine hits, with three strikeouts and seven walks.
North Platte ends the season with a 3-37 overall record.
