North Platte comes up short in doubleheader against Otero

North Platte, Neb. - The North Platte Community College softball team was swept by Otero College in a doubleheader on Sunday.

The Rattlers opened with a solo home run in the first, but North Platte answered with two runs in the bottom half to take the lead.

Otero briefly moved back in front in the second before the Knights responded with two runs. North Platte added one run in the third and two in the fourth to extend its advantage.

Otero pulled within one in the fifth and regained the lead in the sixth. Heaven Hutchison singled to score Julia Leicht to tie the game, but the Rattlers answered with two runs to secure the win.

Brooklyn Deibert pitched a complete game, allowing 10 runs (six earned) on 11 hits with eight strikeouts.

Otero again struck first, scoring two runs in the opening inning, then adding one in the third and another in the fourth.

North Platte answered in the fourth, tying the game behind a three-run home run from Wren Herrick and an RBI double by Deibert.

Otero moved back in front while North Platte's comeback attempt came up short.

Areliana Bravo pitched all seven innings for the Knights. The southpaw allowed 10 hits and nine runs (four earned), while striking out one.

North Platte (2-30) heads to Hastings, Neb. on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Hastings College JV, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
